👴 People living alone and single-parent families – pronounced realities in Walkley and Saint-Raymond–West Haven

The Saint-Raymond–West Haven sector stands out with higher proportions of people living alone (25% versus 19% in Montreal) and single-parent families (38% versus 31 %). This sector accounts for 40% of all people living alone in the neighborhood. Saint-Raymond–West Haven (38%) and Walkley (36%) also have single-parent family rates above the Montreal average.

📍 Poverty – concentrated in specific sectors

The neighborhood’s low-income rate is slightly above the Montreal average (13% versus 11%), but particularly high in Saint-Raymond–West Haven (18%) and Walkley (14%). Two-thirds of the 8,770 low-income residents in the neighborhood live in these two sectors (3,765 in Saint-Raymond–West Haven and 2,170 in Walkley).

🌎 Immigrant population – strong presence in Saint-Raymond–West Haven and Walkley

67% of the neighborhood’s 4,535 new arrivals aged 0–5 live in Saint-Raymond–West Haven (1,710 people) or Walkley (1,310 people). Saint-Raymond–West Haven is home to 2,550 non-permanent residents, making it a key settlement area in NDG.
