A support to adapt and increase frontline services

The Emergency Community Support Fund (ECSF) is a $350-million investment from the Government of Canada allocated through Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) to help vulnerable populations manage the impacts of COVID-19.

The objective was to help agencies adapt and increase front-line services offered to vulnerable populations hard hit by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Government of Canada has partnered with Centraide United Way Canada, Community Foundations of Canada (the Foundation of Greater Montreal in our territory), and the Canadian Red Cross to distribute the ECSF across the country.

Since spring 2020, Centraide of Greater Montreal has been responsible for managing the ECSF application process and for allocating an envelope of $15.4 million to community agencies in its territory (Laval, Island of Montreal, and the South Shore).
