How to give to children during the holidays
Our kids get a mountain of presents every year. So many, in fact, that we often don’t know where to put them all! Why not ask your children to give some of their toys to other kids who don’t have so many gifts under the tree?
During the holidays, many community agencies collect toys that are in good condition:
In addition to providing food at a fraction of the price, the Regroupement des Magasins-Partage works hard so that every family who visits one of its Christmas stores can leave with a present. Do you have new toys or toys in good condition that you can give? Contact the agency and they’ll direct you to the drop off-point nearest you.
La Croisée de Longueuil
Every year, La Croisée de Longueuil organizes a Christmas party for a hundred South Shore families. All toy donations are welcome so that each child gets an age-appropriate gift.
L’Envol, Programme d’aide aux jeunes mères
This South Shore agency accepts donations of new toys and items for babies, ideally before December 16. The things that young moms like most come from the pharmacy (shampoo, diapers, wipes, gift cards, etc.), or items we don't always think of giving but that are so practical.
Women's Centre of Montréal
This year, the Christmas campaign of the Women’s Centre of Montréal will help over 700 families. Women and their families will get food to prepare a wonderful holiday meal as well as gifts to share. Donations of new toys are now being accepted. You can also invite your little ones to make a drawing or write a nice message to go along with their gift. This will help them learn to give back and experience the joy of sharing!
Your donations to Centraide will help these agencies and 350 others help those most in need throughout the year.
