A springboard
for local social development
What is the South Shore Collective Action Fund?
Centraide of Greater Montreal launched the South Shore Collective Action Fund to help this territory cope with its unique challenges in the areas of poverty and social inequality. With a budget of $1 million over two years (2025-2027), this fund will let local agencies join forces to implement concrete, innovative projects. By letting local stakeholders explore new approaches and strengthen their collaborative relationships, the fund will help bring about lasting changes to improve living conditions in these communities.
Why does the South Shore need a specific Fund?
With an area of 2,706 km², the South Shore is a vast and diverse territory that is undergoing strong demographic growth (+5.6%). This situation—along with a patchwork service network that spans multiple RCMs and municipalities—makes it harder for stakeholders to collaborate, prompting the need to tailor support to the territory’s specific local realities.
To address these challenges, the South Shore Collective Action Fund serves as an additional resource to help local stakeholders develop concrete, effective solutions.
Goals of the South Shore Collective Action Fund
- Strengthen agency collaboration to achieve greater impact.
- Support concrete, innovative projects that address local challenges.
- Tackle priority issues identified by local communities.
- Find long-term solutions while meeting urgent community needs.
Two key projects supported by the Fund
A commitment to the entire region
While this fund emphasizes projects in the Roussillon RCM and the agglomeration of Longueuil, Centraide will make sure that the entire South Shore receives support. An additional $200,000 will be set aside for 2025-2027 to support the community development corporations (CDCs) and help them build their capacity to act.
Striving for lasting impact
The South Shore Collective Action Fund comes from a desire to invest differently by emphasizing social innovation and collective efforts. By supporting these initiatives, Centraide and its partners are helping to create more supportive, inclusive, and resilient communities.
