Many partners answer the call to contribute more than $3M to Centraide of Greater Montreal’s COVID-19 emergency fund

Montreal, March 24, 2020 — Many Centraide partners have responded to the call to contribute to the COVID-19 emergency fund since its launch last Friday. To date, we have received a financial commitment for more than $3M from: BMO, Cogeco, Desjardins, Énergir, Fonds de solidarité FTQ, Hydro-Québec, Industrial Alliance, METRO, National Bank, Omega Laboratories, Power Corporation, Sun Life, and the Ville de Montréal and its boroughs.

We are also in talks with over fifteen other companies, foundations and major donors.

“The number-one priority for the emergency fund is to ensure the food security of families, children, seniors and all vulnerable people, whether they have limitations or are newcomers to our territory, and give them the support they need to get through this crisis. We thank everyone for showing their local love,” said Lili-Anna Pereša, President and Executive Director of Centraide of Greater Montreal.

Centraide’s goal is to respond to eligible community agencies within 48 hours of a request for financial support. The process has been streamlined to have a quick impact on as many people as possible who need help.

Centraide of Greater Montreal is calling on the public’s generosity as well. Anyone who lives in Montreal, Laval and the South Shore and who can generously contribute in these uncertain times can make a donation to the COVID-19 emergency fund by going to Centraide of Greater Montreal’s website at centraide-mtl.org or by texting COVID to 80100.
