Employees motivated to achieve a common goal, and year-round fundraising activities, were among the key ingredients in the success of the 2011 Centraide campaign at Ultramar.
The constant support of senior management, which allocated time and resources to the campaign, was an important success factor as well. All the vice-presidents offered numerous prizes to spur employee generosity, including breakfasts, lunches or desserts prepared by themselves, gift vouchers and promotional items. Retirees were solicited by the company president, who organized a draw for those who made a donation. Employees were freed-up to participate in community agency visits and presentations.
All these generous activities were led by the campaign directors with the support of an effective 45-member committee. Constant meetings were held to discuss strategies, set deadlines, and follow up on ongoing activities. The amounts raised by the different group were posted regularly on the company’s intranet site to encourage healthy competition among employees.
The results speak for themselves: 92% of employees contributed to the 2011 campaign, a remarkable mobilization of which the company can be very proud!
