The power of generosity
Behind every dollar donated is a story—a person or family getting back on their feet and reclaiming their dignity. Every year, we help over 800,000 people through 375 community agencies and projects.
But did you know that donating can also save you money come tax time?
✅ Thanks to the tax receipt, you can recover part of your donation as a non-refundable tax credit.
What is a tax receipt?
When you donate to a registered charity such as Centraide, you receive an official receipt for your gift. You can then use this receipt to reduce the amount of tax you pay.
➡️ The result: you make a difference in your community while also benefiting financially.
How much does your donation actually cost you*:

Your $25 donation
costs you only $16,25 after taxes
It allows two isolated seniors to be accompanied on their errands.

Your $50 donation
costs you only $32.50 after taxes
It allows one preschooler to participate in a development workshop.

Your $100 donation

*Note: these amounts are based on federal and provincial tax credit rates for 2024 and assume a net income of $75,000. The tax credit is non-refundable. The amount you receive may vary depending on your individual tax situation.
What donations are eligible?
Centraide issues tax receipts for:
Giving to Centraide is a concrete act of kindness.
And with the tax receipt, it costs less than you think!
* Donations for which the donor receives no benefit in return. If a person attends a benefit dinner or auction, for example, the value of the tax receipt may be reduced based on the value of the benefit received. Receipts can be issued for donations of less than $20 upon request. Dates are subject to deadlines set by the Canada Revenue Agency.
**Stock donations offer different tax savings than those shown in the above table, which applies only to cash donations.
Let’s all lend a hand!
Already made a donation this year? We thank you from the bottom of our hearts! If you can’t find your official tax receipt, please check your emails or contact us.
