At the Bureau de la communaut\u00e9 ha\u00eftienne de Montr\u00e9al (BCHM), a whole community is at work every day to help others and share and promote Haitian culture. For decades, this agency has not only met the needs of the community but also energized it and given it a voice in Montreal\u2019s social fabric.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A mission that resonates<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The BCHM is an essential hub for its members. With services for families, support for newcomers, and programs to help young people succeed, the agency assists people in the Haitian community at every part of their journey, whether to learn French, find a job, or get through a hard time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe BCHM has been here for over 50 years to help ethnocultural families overcome their isolation, create networks, and gain tools to adapt to their host society.\u201d<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
<\/div>\n\n\n\n

For BCHM director Ruth Pierre-Paul, the goal is clear. This mission is particularly meaningful for the people the agency helps, whom she describes as \u201cvery vulnerable,\u201d as they often face obstacles such as language barriers or particularly difficult immigration experiences.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A place to meet and take action<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The BCHM shows its daily commitment through a multitude of activities: cultural events, educational workshops, a day centre for seniors, educational and vocational support, a social and language camp, and much more. This space for connection helps the Haitian community find constant support and look to the future with confidence. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
