{"id":53980,"date":"2023-02-08T19:00:00","date_gmt":"2023-02-09T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.centraide-mtl.org\/?p=53980"},"modified":"2023-02-17T11:57:26","modified_gmt":"2023-02-17T16:57:26","slug":"lallee-leo-toy-library","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.centraide-mtl.org\/en\/blog\/lallee-leo-toy-library\/","title":{"rendered":"L\u2019All\u00e9e L\u00e9o Toy Library"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"is-style-little-title wp-block-heading\"><strong>A new space where kids and adults can play<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>An open and inclusive parent-child play space along with games and toys for all ages, plus a communal place to help families feel less isolated, are the services provided by <strong>L\u2019All\u00e9e L\u00e9o<\/strong>, the brand-new \u201cludoth\u00e8que\u201d of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.centraide-mtl.org\/en\/directory-of-agencies-and-projects\/maison-de-la-famille-de-saint-leonard\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Maison de la famille de Saint-L\u00e9onard<\/a> located in the neighbourhood\u2019s library.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The idea is simple: instead of books, <strong>L\u2019All\u00e9e L\u00e9o<\/strong> loans out games and toys and offers a dedicated space for families to play and take part in more structured activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:4%\">\n<p><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:85%\">\n<h3 class=\"has-text-align-left is-style-little-title wp-block-heading\">Children can discover a whole range of topics to understand the world around them and develop many skills.<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The library has a varied collection of games and toys, with something for all age groups and interests. It has cooperative, imagination, imitation, logic, motor skills, observation and other types of games. Children can discover a whole range of topics to understand the world around them and develop many skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Launched in spring 2022,<strong> L&#8217;All\u00e9e L\u00e9o<\/strong> is growing thanks to the sharing of resources and expertise by many partners from Saint-L\u00e9onard\u2019s community and economic networks\u2014a real strength of the project!<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The Maison de la famille has rent-free space in the Wilfrid-Bastien Pavilion, which is owned by the Ville de Montr\u00e9al.<\/li><li>The toy library is set up in a free room in the Saint-L\u00e9onard library and has its own loan system.<\/li><li>The borough of Saint-L\u00e9onard financially supports the part-time salary of a staff member for the toy library.<\/li><li>The Desjardins Foundation has invested $25,000 for toy purchases.<\/li><li>Community agencies involved in the Caravane Jeunesse de Saint-L\u00e9onard provide equipment to the toy library for its family game activities in Saint-L\u00e9onard\u2019s parks.<\/li><li>The agency Mains Utiles launched a sewing project with immigrant women to create cute clothes for the toy collection\u2019s dolls.<\/li><\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"is-style-little-title wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong>The project\u2019s many impacts<\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The toy library fosters the personal development of younger and older children. Socially, it helps families break their isolation. Economically, it provides free materials to families living in poverty. It is also an eco-friendly initiative because it promotes the sharing of quality games and toys.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:18px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" id=\"video\"
