{"id":28534,"date":"2021-08-17T13:53:23","date_gmt":"2021-08-17T17:53:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.centraide-mtl.org\/?p=28534"},"modified":"2021-08-17T15:52:03","modified_gmt":"2021-08-17T19:52:03","slug":"back-to-school-budget-challenge-for-families","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.centraide-mtl.org\/en\/blog\/back-to-school-budget-challenge-for-families\/","title":{"rendered":"Back-to-school budget challenge for families"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Managing the back-to-school budget is a big challenge for some families.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Their concern is legitimate, especially since some financial supports, such as the Canada Recovery Benefit (CRB), are set to end in the fall.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Stretching and sometimes going over the family budget to meet children\u2019s school needs can be a source of real stress and anxiety.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"is-style-little-title wp-block-heading\"><strong>The ACEF help people better manage their finances<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Centraide of Greater Montreal invests over $650,000 through five <strong>ACEF <\/strong>(Association coop\u00e9rative d\u2019\u00e9conomie familiale)<a href=\"#_ftn1\">[1]<\/a> in the Greater Montreal area to help alleviate\u00a0people\u2019s\u00a0financial problems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These ACEF assist people living on a low income with budgeting and debt issues and work to promote and defend consumer rights. Although their services are meant for the entire population of their territories, the ACEF focus on providing low- and limited-income individuals with the following services:&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Individual assistance and consultations about making and applying a budget and managing debt problems.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Courses, information sessions, and awareness and prevention tools about budgeting, credit, debt solutions, savings tips and more.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Mutual assistance funds that help people living on a low income access small, interest-free loans (at some ACEF).&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.centraide-mtl.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Carte-ACEF-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-28502\" width=\"908\" height=\"478\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.centraide-mtl.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Carte-ACEF-1.jpg 792w, https:\/\/www.centraide-mtl.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Carte-ACEF-1-300x158.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.centraide-mtl.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Carte-ACEF-1-768x403.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 908px) 100vw, 908px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.centraide-mtl.org\/wp-admin\/post.php?post=28398&amp;action=edit#_ftnref1\">[1]<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.centraide-mtl.org\/en\/directory-of-agencies-and-projects\/acef-de-lest-de-montreal\/\">ACEF de l\u2019Est de Montr\u00e9al<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.centraide-mtl.org\/en\/directory-of-agencies-and-projects\/acef-laval\/\" data-type=\"organization\" data-id=\"7533\">ACEF Laval<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.centraide-mtl.org\/en\/directory-of-agencies-and-projects\/acef-du-sud-ouest-de-montreal\/\" data-type=\"organization\" data-id=\"7311\">ACEF du Sud-Ouest de Montr\u00e9al<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.centraide-mtl.org\/en\/directory-of-agencies-and-projects\/acef-du-nord-de-montreal\/\" data-type=\"organization\" data-id=\"7344\">ACEF du Nord de Montr\u00e9al<\/a> et <a href=\"https:\/\/www.centraide-mtl.org\/en\/directory-of-agencies-and-projects\/acef-de-la-rive-sud\/\" data-type=\"organization\" data-id=\"7412\">ACEF de la Rive-Sud<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:40px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"is-style-little-title wp-block-heading\"><strong>Le Regroupement Partage meets the needs of young people<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Op\u00e9ration Sac \u00e0 Dos<\/strong> led by Le <a href=\"https:\/\/www.centraide-mtl.org\/en\/directory-of-agencies-and-projects\/regroupement-partage\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.centraide-mtl.org\/en\/directory-of-agencies-and-projects\/regroupement-partage\/\">Regroupement Partage,<\/a> an agency supported by Centraide of Greater Montreal, helps students get the best possible start to the new school year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This year*, the initiative\u2014which received support from the Emergency Community Support Fund (ECSF) administered by Centraide\u2014had to adapt to the pandemic health measures and was greatly enhanced to meet the increased demand for assistance.&nbsp;Water bottles and reusable masks were added to the regular backpacks, lunch boxes and new school supplies.
