He attended specialized classes throughout his schooling \u2014 until the age of 24, when he was no longer eligible to remain in the education system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Maxime is now 26 years old. He and his parents found a Centraide supported association that allows people like him to take part in a variety of activities. This organization\u2019s mission is to help people with intellectual disabilities reach their full personal and social potential, through activities that promote independence and autonomy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thanks to this association, Maxime travelled to an international cooperative in Nicaragua, and he hopes to take part in another international cooperation project, this time in Africa. He now volunteers once a week, and he\u2019s hoping to find a part-time job soon.
