Agencies can only be as effective with the few resources they have because they know how to work together and seize opportunities to join forces with other partners. Everyone rolled up their sleeves\u2014<strong>individually and<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>collectively<\/strong>\u2014to meet needs. A food supply network has been created in 9 neighbourhoods and 1 municipality in the east end of the island: Rivi\u00e8re-des-Prairies, Pointe-aux-Trembles, Montr\u00e9al-Est, Saint-Michel, Saint-L\u00e9onard, Anjou, Mercier-Est, Mercier-Ouest, Hochelaga-Maisonneuve and Rosemont\u2013La Petite-Patrie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"580\" height=\"465\" src=\"http:\/\/www.centraide-mtl.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/412c3321871b526a189ef8a0eadd15ad.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1121\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.centraide-mtl.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/412c3321871b526a189ef8a0eadd15ad.png 580w, https:\/\/www.centraide-mtl.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/412c3321871b526a189ef8a0eadd15ad-300x241.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 580px) 100vw, 580px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Refrigerated trucks sent out by&nbsp;<strong>Bouffe-Action de Rosemont&nbsp;<\/strong>and&nbsp;<strong>La Cantine pour tous<\/strong>&nbsp;transport meals from the company to various drop-off points for agencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These meals are distributed either as food baskets given out at agencies or through new home delivery services to 6,500 people. About forty agencies are involved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Table itin\u00e9rance Rive-Sud<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Given the steep rise in the homeless at Longueuil Metro Station from five to thirty people after the business closures, the&nbsp;<strong>Table itin\u00e9rance Rive-Sud,&nbsp;<\/strong>CISSS de la Mont\u00e9r\u00e9gie-Centre, CISSS de la Mont\u00e9r\u00e9gie-Est, and City of Longueuil had to find solutions to provide these clients left to fend for themselves with a safe place to eat, wash, talk to someone, and get reassurance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"580\" height=\"465\" src=\"http:\/\/www.centraide-mtl.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/eb803f0b3d85e1147ba726d3b169a043.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1123\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.centraide-mtl.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/eb803f0b3d85e1147ba726d3b169a043.png 580w, https:\/\/www.centraide-mtl.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/eb803f0b3d85e1147ba726d3b169a043-300x241.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 580px) 100vw, 580px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>A motel has been converted into a temporary shelter that can accommodate about 40 homeless people who have contracted COVID-19 or are waiting for a test result. A day centre has been set up in a church. A shuttle service run by the R\u00e9seau de transport de Longueuil (RTL) takes homeless people to these places from the metro station.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Community police and four homelessness resources are providing a presence at the metro and throughout the territory. These resources include&nbsp;<strong>Le Repas du Passant, Macadam Sud, H\u00e9bergement La Casa Bernard-Hubert and Abri de la Rive-Sud.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Collaboration&nbsp;is the key word for the community sector.
