Together, they explain why solidarity is indispensable and how it translates into concrete action.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-dots\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading is-style-little-title\"><strong><strong><strong>Understanding how solidarity happens through Centraide with F\u00e9lix-Antoine V\u00e9ronneau<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Why donate to Centraide rather than directly to an agency?&#8221;&nbsp;That\u2019s&nbsp;one of the questions addressed in the first&nbsp;video&nbsp;of our series.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The answer is clear: Centraide centralizes donations and redistributes them effectively. This approach makes it possible to support agencies doing essential work, including those that are less well known and might not otherwise have access to funding.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But Centraide does more than provide funding. Its mission? To fight poverty and social exclusion by mobilizing the entire community\u2014donors, volunteers, businesses, and partners. In Greater Montreal, rents are rising, vacancy rates are extremely low, evictions are increasing, and social housing&nbsp;represents&nbsp;only about 5% of the housing stock\u2014compared to up to 20% in some European countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this&nbsp;video,&nbsp;<strong>Am\u00e9lie&nbsp;Giurgiuca<\/strong>&nbsp;from&nbsp;Organisation&nbsp;d\u2019\u00e9ducation&nbsp;et&nbsp;d\u2019information&nbsp;logement&nbsp;de C\u00f4te-des-Neiges (OEIL)&nbsp;explains the consequences of this crisis: families juggling multiple jobs just to pay rent, two families sharing a two-bedroom apartment, and many living in unhealthy conditions\u2014mold, cockroaches, lack of repairs.
