Centraide partnered with CTV to produce a series of short videos that shed light on the social challenges facing Greater Montreal and the essential role of community organizations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Broadcast in fall 2025 and hosted by video journalist Lauren Fernandez,<\/strong> these videos feature voices from the field along with F\u00e9lix-Antoine V\u00e9ronneau,<\/strong> Vice-President of Social Development at Centraide. Together, they explain why solidarity is indispensable and how it translates into concrete action. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Understanding how solidarity happens through Centraide with F\u00e9lix-Antoine V\u00e9ronneau<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

“Why donate to Centraide rather than directly to an agency?” That\u2019s one of the questions addressed in the first video of our series. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The answer is clear: Centraide centralizes donations and redistributes them effectively. This approach makes it possible to support agencies doing essential work, including those that are less well known and might not otherwise have access to funding. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

But Centraide does more than provide funding. Its mission? To fight poverty and social exclusion by mobilizing the entire community\u2014donors, volunteers, businesses, and partners. And above all, to strengthen the capacity of a vast network of community agencies that intervene where needs are most urgent: housing, food security, homelessness, isolation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Understanding food insecurity with Tasha Lackman and F\u00e9lix-Antoine V\u00e9ronneau<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

“Living with food insecurity is like living with constant fear of not having enough to eat.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Every day, there are 17,000 requests to food banks across Greater Montreal\u2014enough to fill the Bell Centre. And more than half of those seeking help have families. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this video, Tasha Lackman<\/strong> from Le D\u00e9p\u00f4t Community Food Centre explains how hunger disrupts everything: learning, working, concentrating, even maintaining social connections. F\u00e9lix-Antoine V\u00e9ronneau reminds us that Centraide supports agencies offering concrete solutions: food banks, mobile markets, psychosocial support.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Understanding the housing crisis with Am\u00e9lie Giurgiuca and F\u00e9lix-Antoine V\u00e9ronneau<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Finding a decent place to live has never been harder. In Greater Montreal, rents are rising, vacancy rates are extremely low, evictions are increasing, and social housing represents only about 5% of the housing stock\u2014compared to up to 20% in some European countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this video, Am\u00e9lie Giurgiuca<\/strong> from Organisation d\u2019\u00e9ducation et d\u2019information logement de C\u00f4te-des-Neiges (OEIL) explains the consequences of this crisis: families juggling multiple jobs just to pay rent, two families sharing a two-bedroom apartment, and many living in unhealthy conditions\u2014mold, cockroaches, lack of repairs. F\u00e9lix-Antoine V\u00e9ronneau highlights that Centraide supports agencies helping vulnerable tenants avoid homelessness and advocates for more affordable housing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aging in Montreal: Challenges and Solutions with Kaitlin Fahey and F\u00e9lix-Antoine V\u00e9ronneau<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Nearly one in six people in Greater Montreal is 65 or older\u2014that\u2019s more than the entire population of Quebec City. Seniors are more likely to live alone, face social isolation, and experience poverty. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this video, Kaitlin Fahey<\/strong> from Yellow Door presents solutions: home-based volunteer services, social activities, and friendly visits that create intergenerational connections. F\u00e9lix-Antoine V\u00e9ronneau explains how Centraide supports agencies working to break isolation, promote aging at home, and strengthen social ties. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
