Except for Lachine-Ouest (28%), all sectors of Lachine show single-parent family rates significantly higher (39%) than the Montreal average (33%). This is particularly true in Duff Court, which has the highest proportion of single-parent families of all Montreal sectors (62%).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lachine has 4,600 low-income residents, more than half of whom live in Lachine-Est (2,405 people). The neighbourhood\u2019s low-income rate is comparable to Montreal\u2019s (10% versus 11%), but rises to 20% in Duff Court and 13% in Saint-Pierre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Only 24% of Lachine\u2019s population is immigrant, compared to 33% in Montreal. The neighbourhood has seen a notable increase in its immigrant population between 2016 and 2021 (11%, versus 1% in Montreal).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On average, 32% of Lachine residents belong to a visible minority group, compared to 38% in Montreal. This proportion rises to 43% in Saint-Pierre and 52% in Duff Court, where one in two residents belongs to a visible minority.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
