In March 2020, the pandemic hit Greater Montreal. While the lockdowns have disrupted everyone\u2019s lives, they have badly affected people who are marginalized or living in vulnerable conditions, such as isolated seniors, people with disabilities, the homeless, or families experiencing lost income.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thanks to four emergency funds<\/strong> and strong partnerships already in place, Centraide along with neighbourhood roundtables and community agencies were able to respond to emerging issues and act quickly to provide essential services while adapting their operations to the new health restrictions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To date, an additional $25.6 million<\/strong> has been allocated to some 635 agencies.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n \n Centraide COVID-19 Emergency Fund
During the first months of the crisis, 438 agencies served vulnerable populations, providing 277,000 people with emergency support. *Including $710,000 from the Government of Canada\u2019s New Horizons for Seniors Program (NHSP).

349 agencies received funding, which enabled these agencies to increase services offered up to spring 2021.
