In 2006, Centraide of Greater Montreal, the Direction r\u00e9gionale de sant\u00e9 publique de Montr\u00e9al and the Ville de Montr\u00e9al partnered with the Coalition montr\u00e9alaise des Tables de quartier to create the Initiative montr\u00e9alaise de soutien au d\u00e9veloppement social local (IMSDSL). The aim of this initiative is to support and strengthen the concerted efforts of Montreal’s neighbourhood round tables.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of this agreement, Centraide contributes to the neighbourhood tables in Montreal and to the Montreal Coalition of Neighbourhood Tables, which plays a key role in this effort.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The IMSDSL is based on a Reference Framework, recently updated in 2024. This two-year update has consolidated partnerships and strengthened implementation of the initiative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Social Development Tables in Laval and the South Shore<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Centraide also supports local social development tables in Laval and on the South Shore. While they are not part of the Montreal agreement, these tables serve a similar purpose to Montreal\u2019s neighborhood tables: fostering local collaboration, engaging community stakeholders, and driving collective projects tailored to the needs of their communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These neighbourhood roundtables include as many stakeholders as possible from various backgrounds: residents first and foremost but also representatives from the community, cultural, economic, education, public security and municipal sectors.<\/p>\n

Together, they are implementing a variety of actions to improve living conditions for neighbourhood residents.<\/p>\n

Collective projects driven by neighbourhood roundtables\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

The Esprit de quartier podcast highlights community projects driven by neighbourhood roundtables. Its four episodes explore highly topical themes: gentrification and urban development, food security, the environment, and community life. Through interviews with people from about ten initiatives in eight Montreal neighbourhoods, host Joakim Lemieux<\/strong> from the Coalition montr\u00e9alaise des Tables de quartier (CMTQ) invites the public to join her on reflecting about social inequalities in Montreal and about possible solutions.<\/p>\n
