Recent data from a Canada-wide Omnibus survey conducted by L\u00e9ger for United Way Centraide Canada on financial anxiety reveals growing concern among respondents in Quebec about the province\u2019s economic future.<\/p>\n\n\n

More than one in two Quebecers (54%) expect the province\u2019s economic situation to worsen within the next six months<\/strong>, compared to 46% in the rest of Canada.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

A large majority of respondents in Quebec (81%) do not foresee any improvement in their personal finances in the medium term<\/strong>. Nearly two in three (64%) believe their financial situation will remain stable over the next six months, while one in six (17%) think their situation will worsen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Furthermore, 44% of Quebec respondents report say they would not have the resources to cover their expenses for more than a month without going into debt if they lost their income or faced unexpected expenses.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Financial anxiety affecting a broad swath of the Quebec population<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Since fall 2022, Centraide of Greater Montreal has been surveying Quebeckers to discover their financial concerns and track changes in these concerns over time. Initially done twice a year in the fall and spring, these surveys have been conducted once a year since April 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although results for the three key indicators have remained stable since the first survey in 2022, financial anxiety remains widespread: the vast majority of respondents (85%) are experiencing anxiety, with almost half (46%) experiencing it to a high degree.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
