Campaign 2011: A record $58.7 million

The appeal for generosity launched last September was heard. Your involvement and generous donations enabled us to raise an impressive $58.7 million during our 2011 annual campaign. That’s $3.6 million more than last year! With this result, Centraide posts its strongest growth in five years.

This was announced today by the co-chairs of Campaign 2011, Heather Munroe-Blum, Principal and Vice-Chancellor of McGill University, and Pierre Beaudoin, President and Chief Executive Officer of Bombardier, at Redpath Hall of McGill University.

These donations will enable Centraide, through its 360 partner agencies, to help about 500,000 needy people in Greater Montreal. The money will be redistributed where needs are most pressing in the hope of breaking the cycle of poverty.

About a quarter of the population of Montreal lives under the low income cut-off. In Greater Montreal (Montreal, South Shore, Laval), the proportion is 18%.
