“I lived in one place after the other, worked one job after another, and I’m proud to say that today I’m back in school to get my GED.”

Samuel got support from En Marge 12-17, a Centraide-supported agency.

“I left home when I was 16 or 17. I fought with my mother all the time, and it just got unbearable, so one day she told me to leave. I decided to take it on as a challenge.

Generally, kids will go back home after a week or two, but after six months, it was clear that was no longer a solution for me. You come back once, twice… but by the third time, you know there’s really no use in trying any more.

I lived in one place after the other, worked one job after another, and I’m proud to say that today I’m back in school to get my GED. My real dream would be to live off my music. That’s Plan A. But failing that, I’d like to stay in school, go to CÉGEP and university, and eventually become an English teacher, so I could teach anywhere in the world.”
