Centraide appoints a new Board Chair - Two new directors are elected as well

Montreal, June 18, 2008 - Centraide of Greater Montreal is pleased to announce that Claude Léger, Director General of the City of Montreal, was elected yesterday as Chair of its Board of Directors. Mr. Léger succeeds Yves Sanssouci, President and CEO of CRIM, who held this position since 2006.

Claude Léger has served as a volunteer on Centraide's Board of Directors since 2004 and on its Executive Committee since 2006. Also elected, on the recommendation of the Nominating Committee, were two new directors: Serge Brasset, Director General of Collège Édouard-Montpetit, and Norman M. Steinberg, Co-Chair of Ogilvy Renault LLP.

The Board of Directors also appointed Louis L. Roquet*, President and COO of Desjardins Venture Capital, as Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors, and reappointed Lili de Grandpré*, Managing Director at CenCEO Consulting, as Chair of the Allocations and Agency Relations Committee, James C. Cherry*, President and CEO of Aéroports de Montréal, as Treasurer, and Constance Middleton-Hope*, Lay Minister with the Anglican Diocese of Montreal, as Secretary of the Corporation.

The 30 directors serving on Centraide of Greater Montreal's Board also include Alan Allnutt, Publisher and General Manager of The Gazette; Chantal Aznavourian*, Project Coordinator, Development, Chantier de l'Économie Sociale; Mary-Ann Bell, Chief Operating Officer for Quebec of Bell Aliant Regional Communications; David Birnbaum, Executive Director of the Quebec English School Boards Association; Hélène Bohémier, Director of Partnership for CSSS de la Montagne; Tim Brodhead, President and CEO of the J.W. Centraide of Greater Montreal is an independent organization managed by a board of directors which is representative of the community. It serves the Island of Montreal, Laval and communities on the South Shore, supporting 360 community-based agencies and projects which offer help and comfort to more than half a million people in need. Centraide relies on 175,000 donors and a network of 73,000 volunteers. There are 18 autonomous Centraides in Quebec.
