In the Greater Montreal area, which is home to almost half the people of Quebec, many are hard hit by poverty.

Poverty in all its forms (economic, cultural and social) leads to isolation, distress and other problems. Poverty affects every aspect of people's lives, contributing to family breakdown, increased violence, poor health, child development difficulties, parental distress, substance abuse, exclusion, etc.

Centraide of Greater Montreal works to help people who are experiencing these problems.

By conducting a vast annual fundraising campaign, by relying on the generosity and involvement of tens of thousands of donors and volunteers, and by financing a network of community agencies and projects, our organization helps some 500,000 people in need or in difficulty.

Montrealers of all stripes converge on Centraide because they want to place their highly varied abilities and resources at the service of the less fortunate.
