Major donors are individuals who make a personal donation to Centraide of $10,000 or more. Together they form the Major Donors Circle, which currently has more than 420 members. They are Greater Montreal’s pioneers, pacesetters, builders, guardians, defenders, benefactors, visionaries and philanthropists.
In 2016, the members of the Major Donors Circle contributed a remarkable $12 million, thereby alone accounting for 22% of the $55 million raised by the campaign.
This success is attributable to the involvement of the influential volunteers in the Major Donors Cabinet, who have given themselves the mission of personally raising donations among their peers.
Several Major donors have also included bequests for Centraide in their estate plans. Consult our section Legacy donors.
Major donations: An invaluable support
Thirty families prepare meals together in a collective kitchen for ten weeks. They learn to feed themselves economically while building a valuable self-help network.
An agency provides individual support, self-help groups and temporary shelter for men in distress with or without children.
A family centre provides a propitious environment for self-help and mutual aid among neighbourhood parents, respite services, and activities to enrich the role of parents and promote the development of their children.
An agency helps find daycare spots for children with a handicap. Thanks to this support, 80% of parents helped by the agency can eventually go back to work.
