James C. Cherry at the head of Centraide’s board
Centraide of Greater Montreal is pleased to announce the appointment of James C. Cherry, President and CEO of Aéroports de Montréal, as Chair of its Board of Directors. He succeeds Louis L. Roquet, CEO of Cevital Group.
James C. Cherry has served on Centraide’s Board of Directors since 2006 and on its Executive Committee since 2007. He chaired the Audit Committee from 2008 to 2012 and has served as a campaign volunteer, including on the Campaign Cabinet, since 1998. A chartered accountant by profession, Mr. Cherry has over 30 years’ experience in business administration, project management and financial management. He has held various senior executive positions in the business sector.
Four new directors were appointed as well: David Ayton, President and COO of Rolls-Royce Canada; Jean Bélanger, President of JB Property Management; Taïeb Hafsi, Walter J. Somers Professor of International Strategic Management at HEC Montréal; and Karim Salabi, Senior Vice-President, Marketing at Rona.
Centraide’s Board is composed of 30 directors from the community who ensure that the large sums entrusted to Centraide by its donors are administered soundly and invested in the community in accordance with established priorities. With their diversity, knowledge and varied expertise, these valuable partners provide Centraide with the good governance to carry out its mission and fight effectively against poverty and social exclusion.
