Volunteering at an agency

Some 56,500 people play a key role in their community as volunteers in one of the 370 agencies supported by Centraide.

Volunteers are indispensable in all spheres of community action. The demand for volunteers is high and the community agencies are always looking for people who are ready to get involved and give the best of themselves to help those in need.

After pursuing a career in the field of international cooperation, Rosario Demers wanted to make a difference in his own neighbourhood. The challenge was daunting, because a great urban mix and the presence of sometimes diametrically opposed interests characterize the Faubourg Saint-Laurent—the downtown neighbourhood he loves and calls home.
