Centraide of Greater Montreal closes its annual campaign with over $55 million
Centraide of Greater Montreal’s 42nd annual fundraising campaign closed today after raising $55,050,000 thanks to the generosity of several tens of thousands of donors. This amount will allow Centraide to support some 350 agencies that fight against poverty and exclusion in Montreal, Laval and on the South Shore.
The campaign co-chairs, Isabelle Marcoux, Chair of the Board of Transcontinental Inc., and Mitch Garber, President and CEO of Caesar’s Acquisition Company and Chair of Cirque du Soleil, announced the campaign result just before the start of the 3rd annual Spin-O-Don for Centraide, a spinning relay held this morning at Complexe Desjardins. This final benefit activity brought together more than 250 participants who pedalled for several hours.
“I am extremely proud of the exceptionnal results we have achieved. I salute the amazing work and passion of the Cabinet members who brought this campaign to fruition, as well as the exemplary solidarity on the part of donors. This tremendous outpouring of generosity will contribute toward breaking the cycle of poverty in Greater Montreal,” said Isabelle Marcoux. “Montreal would not be the same without the invaluable contribution of the companies, organizations, volunteers and citizens who support the largest network of aid agencies in Quebec. This campaign will improve the lives of hundreds of thousands of people in our community,” added Mitch Garber.
“The agencies and projects we support meet the most pressing needs. They promote food self-sufficiency, academic success and early childhood development. They break social isolation. They support families in their daily struggles. In short, they change lives for life,” concluded Lili-Anna Pereša, President and Executive Director of Centraide of Greater Montreal.
Centraide will publicly announce its annual community investments in spring 2017.
