Au-delà de l’impact économique et des coûts qu’il engendre (1,9 milliard de dollars pour l’ensemble du Québec), le décrochage pénalise également les personnes sur le plan individuel.

Il affecte la dignité personnelle, l’autonomie financière, l’implication citoyenne et la vie socioculturelle.

Si on les compare aux personnes diplômées, les personnes non diplômées ont un revenu annuel moyen inférieur ainsi qu’un taux de chômage moyen plus élevé. Leur espérance de vie est également plus courte.

Getting a high school diploma is one of the most important steps to accessing the job market and becoming a full member of society. 

Thanks to your donations, Centraide supports a network of 47 agencies and projects whose mission is to encourage academic perseverance and prevent school dropouts by providing support to school-aged (primary and secondary school) children and their parents. An annual investment of $2.9 M, which makes Centraide the largest private funder that fights to prevent school dropouts in Greater Montreal.
