Centraide of Greater Montreal's partnerships and involvement in regional associations and joint initiatives
Collectif Quartier is a regional association created in 2008 by the City of Montreal. It brings together partners from different parts of the community and areas of activity concerned with local development. The association’s mission is the gathering, analysis and targeted dissemination of knowledge relevant to local development.
Démarche montréalaise concertée de lutte contre la pauvreté et l’exclusion sociale
Démarche montréalaise concertée de lutte contre la pauvreté et l’exclusion sociale was created based on the recommendations of the 2010-2015 Government Action Plan for Solidarity and Social Inclusion. It was initiated by the City of Montreal in order to mobilize partners around the development, implementation and follow-up of a regional action plan to fight poverty and social exclusion.
Forum régional sur le développement social de l’île de Montréal
Le Forum régional sur le développement social de l’île de Montréal is a committee of the Montreal regional commission of elected representatives (CRÉ). Its mission is to encourage information sharing, analysis and deliberation among partners from various areas of activity with a view to their reaching an agreement on a common approach to the sustainable reduction of social inequalities.
Horizon 0-5 is a regional committee created based on the survey of the state of school readiness of Montreal children, entitled En route pour l’école (Heading for school), conducted by the Montreal Health and Social Services Agency and published in 2008. This survey showed that about 35% of young children in Montreal were not prepared when they started school. In response, a group of 12 partners developed and implemented a regional action plan to promote a common and consistent vision of the development, well-being and school success of children aged 0-5 years.
Initiative montréalaise de soutien au développement social local
L’Initiative montréalaise de soutien au développement social local is a joint program of Centraide of Greater Montreal, the City of Montreal and the Montreal Public Health Department. It aims to improve the quality of life and living conditions of the people of Montreal by financially supporting neighbourhood round tables. These round tables coordinate, in their respective neighbourhoods, the work of partners who belong to different networks (community, municipal, educational, etc.) and operate in different areas of intervention (youth, mental health, food security, etc.). The Coalition montréalaise des tables de quartier, an association of 29 neighbourhood round tables, one in each neighbourhood or borough, is also a partner in the initiative. Centraide’s contribution accounts for a little over 50% of the funding provided by this initiative.
Nourrir Montréal is a committee of the Montreal regional commission of elected representatives (CRÉ). Its mission is to coordinate the elaboration of a plan to develop a sustainable and equitable food security system for the Montreal community.
Montreal Hooked on School
Montreal Hooked on School is a regional agency which resulted from the merger of Carrefour de lutte au décrochage scolaire and the Table des partenaires pour la persévérance scolaire à Montréal. This merger reflected a desire to bring together all school-dropout prevention activities on Montreal Island. The agency’s mission is to mobilize all partners in Montreal and become a focal point for initiatives that have a positive impact on young people, parents and other concerned parties, with the objective of increasing school persistence and success, and reconnecting with school.
Comité d’action en sécurité alimentaire de Laval (CASAL)
CASAL is a regional committee created by the Laval Public Health Department with the mission of promoting and improving food security in Laval. It includes representatives of the institutional, community, municipal, agricultural, educational and charitable sectors.
Réussite Laval is a regional agency created in the spring of 2010 under a partnership agreement on school perseverance and success entitled Entente de partenariat en matière de persévérance scolaire et de réussite éducative de Laval 2010-2013. Its mission is to promote the academic success of Laval youth and to make school perseverance a priority issue. The agency works in collaboration with many partners, notably in the political, educational and government sectors.
Comité pour la solidarité et l’inclusion sociale de l’agglomération de Longueuil (COSISAL)
COSISAL is a committee of the Longueuil regional commission of elected representatives (CRÉ). Its mission is to support and advise the CRÉ in the development, follow-up, implementation and evaluation of a plan to fight poverty and social exclusion in the Urban Agglomeration of Longueuil. The committee includes partners from the government, municipal, community and charitable sectors.
