A broad range of sources

Our warmest thanks to all the individuals and organizations who contribute to our campaign. Centraide of Greater Montreal is particularly fortunate to enjoy the support of a group of donors who give $1,000 or more to its annual campaign. These donors – about 6,300 in 2007 – form what we call the Leaders' Circle. Many organizations canvass for Leadership donations in their workplace.

Companies and organizations
(large corporations, small businesses, government departments and agencies, etc.) support our campaign by:

  • making a donation;

  • supporting a workplace campaign to raise the awareness of their employees and canvass them for donations;

  • enabling their employees to contribute to Centraide’s campaign through payroll deduction, at the organization’s expense;

  • "lending" employees to Centraide during the campaign period to ensure the success of the workplace campaigns;

  • giving Centraide free advertising space and airtime.
Their employees and trade unions

Each year, more than 550,000 employees are canvassed in the workplaces of Greater Montreal. Employees can donate through payroll deduction, which is the easiest way to contribute. In unionized workplaces, the trade unions encourage their members to support Centraide's campaign and actively contribute to its success.

Individuals in the community

We canvass individuals in their homes by direct mail. Our mailing list is kept confidential: we don’t sell or give out the names and addresses of our donors to other organizations.

Centraide of Greater Montreal never canvasses door-to-door. However, some of the other Centraides in Quebec do. If someone comes to your door to canvass for Centraide, ask them what Centraide they represent, and make sure that particular Centraide is actually canvassing in your neighbourhood.
