During the campaign period, spokespersons from Centraide supported agencies visit workplaces throughout Greater Montreal in order to meet with donors and explain how their donations help the less fortunate.

Building bridges
between people
Many of the donors and organizations that participate in our campaign want to develop closer ties with Centraide and to become more involved in the community-based agencies we support. So during the campaign, we create opportunities for donors and agency representatives to get together.
After all, people who help people is what Centraide is all about: what could be better than to build bridges between them?
During the campaign
Agency spokespersons
Spokespersons from Centraide supported agencies (staff, volunteers or clients) go out into the workplaces of Greater Montreal in order to meet with donors and explain how their donations help the less fortunate. These visits - about 900 are organized each year - help to put a face on Centraide.

| Painting, construction, excavation, general cleanup... A lot of tasks get accomplished at the agencies on Days of Caring. |
Days of Caring
Groups of employees get together to perform chores at Centraide supported agencies: painting, construction, excavation, general cleanup, etc. These Days of Caring are a wonderful opportunity to lend a helping hand to an agency and to develop ties at the same time.
Visits
Volunteer groups hold their meetings or training sessions at community-based agencies, and use the opportunity to tour the agency and meet the people involved in it.
Outside the campaign period
Outside the campaign period, Centraide brings people together for special projects, training courses, etc. These activities are yet another opportunity to build bridges between people who help people.
Working groups
In order to continue serving our community as effectively as possible, we regularly bring together volunteers and other partners in our network to analyse the needs of the community and determine the best ways of meeting those needs. Our most recent exercise of this nature, the Strategic Study of Social Issues, produced a report entitled "Building Caring Communities and Supporting their Ability to Act", which will guide Centraide's action for many years to come.

Caring for others
The 18 Centraides in Quebec hold every year the "Caring for Others School Project" to awaken children to the importance of volunteering and community service. It takes place simultaneously, during the course of one morning, in hundreds of Grade 4 classrooms throughout the province. Agency spokespersons come to speak to the students about their personal experience of caring for others. The students also explore the various facets of community service using a handbook prepared specifically for the occasion. In the territory served by Centraide of Greater Montreal, over 1,600 students at 30 schools take part in Caring for others.
