Our mission

To maximize financial and volunteer resources.

Why?

In order to promote mutual aid, social commitment and self-reliance as effective means of improving the quality of life of our community, and especially of its neediest members.

How?

Particularly by funding community agencies and working in partnership with them.

Our vision: building caring communities

To develop ties between all the components of our society — community agencies, businesses, institutions, people who receive help, donors, etc. — so as to transform Greater Montreal into a caring environment in which the less fortunate can live in dignity: that’s what Centraide wants to accomplish.

Our strategic guidelines

Rally people together

The people of Greater Montreal consider Centraide to be central to their desire for greater social solidarity and a more caring community.

Centraide rallies people from all backgrounds, without distinction, around:

  • a common value: mutual aid,
  • a common concern: the quality of life of the most disadvantaged members of our community,
  • a common conviction: that community action is an invaluable and effective means of bringing about change.

Volunteers at the heart of our action

Whether it’s a question of fundraising, allocating funds to the agencies, overseeing financial management, or ensuring the best possible response to social needs, volunteers are at the heart of Centraide’s action.

Community action:
the engine of Centraide’s activities

At every level of the community — the street, the neighbourhood, the district — there are ties which bind people in solidarity and mobilize them around a common cause. Together, these people find their own solutions to the problems confronting them and thereby improve the quality of life for everyone in the community.

Centraide is working even more closely with its network of volunteers and agencies in order to enhance the overall effectiveness of community action and to strengthen its own role as a rallying force.
