Agency and Project Directory

Donations to Centraide of Greater Montreal are used to:

  • ensure the stability of a strong network of community agencies,
  • provide innovative solutions by supporting agency-initiated projects.

People in distress can turn to Centraide’s network for immediate help as well as for lasting solutions to their problems.

A community cafeteria, for example, offers free or very low-cost meals ($2 or less). It also organizes cooking workshops where people can prepare several meals to take home with them. These workshops train participants to prepare nutritious meals at low cost, to shop for food economically within the limits of their budget, etc.

Centraide’s network helps people through its distress prevention measures.

First Stop, for example, operates a stand in the Central Bus Station to prevent young people who land in Montreal without any resources from being drawn into the world of drugs or prostitution. It offers a variety of services to youth at risk, including front-line assistance, referral and accompaniment.

Centraide supported agencies encourage the people they help to develop a sense of personal responsibility, to become self-reliant, and to take charge of their own lives.

Patrick: an example of a young man who decided to take charge of his life.
